Making the decision to address your substance use disorder and seeking out therapy is a very big step in taking care of yourself. Letting go of your substance use can be a very challenging and vulnerable process. In many substance use histories, there is a pattern of self-medicating untreated mental health issues, trauma, and emotions. Getting to what is underneath self-medicating and avoidance patterns will be important in our work together. This may mean collaborating with other professionals in the community or support services
Codependency and Love Addiction
Facing codependency and love addiction issues can be an overwhelming process. It is one of the more complicated and misunderstood conditions. The physical and emotional withdrawal from codependency and love addiction can be more challenging than withdrawal from substance use. Codependency and love addiction are most often a result of unaddressed family-of-origin trauma.
